CIP-Forum: A short introduction

Posted in English by pladen on September 8, 2009

Today, Marshall Phelps Corporate Vice President for IP Policy and Strategy at Microsoft trough CIP-Forum launched an attack against the Swedish Pirate Party commenting on the fact that the Swedish people have in a democratic election elected a member of the Swedish Pirate Party to represent them in the European Parliament.

This is of course not something that is a pure coincidence, but rather shows the true nature and purpose of CIP-Forum. A short backgorund check on CIP shows that CIP is loosely conneced to VIRK(Västsvenska Immaterialrättsklubben) via its director Ulf Petrusson who is also vice president of VIRK. On the VIRK board is Niklas Sjöblom who is also a member of both NTA and AIPPI, as well as SFIR. Another board member of CIP is Christina Berggren of MAQS law firm (same law firm as TPB trial famous Monique Wadsted) who in turn is in the Swedish AIPPI executive committe, and a SFIR and AIPPI member. Berggren is also in the Registerkontrolldelegationen (data record control delegation) together with Cecilia Rehnfors.

Also, check out these quotes from the CIP-forum, twitter account since they much speak for themselfs on the nature of CIP-Forum.

The CIP-forum are very modern people, they even have their own twitter account. Here are a few quotes from their tweets:

Openness, like most concepts has no value in itself. The value depends on how we choose to construct it.

Knowledge is the new wealth of nations, and as such, access to knowledge is likely to be seen as a human right
